Filmmaker
Douglas C. Murray is a nonfiction filmmaker and photojournalist living in Brooklyn, New York.
His connection to the film began when a litter of kittens was born in his backyard. Working with Heidi to trap and rehome them, he was drawn to her dedication and began filming her adventures. During filming, Heidi went from juggling rescue work alongside a full-time job, to eventually leaving her job altogether to focus on the cats. All of this was enabled by grassroots support garnered through her social media. The finished film is a portrait of compassion, perseverance, and the fight to solve a problem most New Yorkers walk past everyday without noticing.
Doug began his career as a local-news reporter for KLTV in Tyler, Texas, where he developed a knack for storytelling rooted in real-life experience. In 2017, he moved to Brooklyn, New York, where he’s worked on a range of documentaries and nonfiction projects exploring meaningful human stories.
