Want to Help Cats in Your Neighborhood?
Whether you’re a cat lover, a curious neighbor, or someone who just rescued their first kitten, there are meaningful ways to get involved. You don’t have to be a full-time cat rescuer to make a difference.
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is the most humane and effective way to reduce the number of cats born on the street, and it takes a community to make it happen.
Ways to get involved:
1. Support Your Local Rescuers
Not everyone can be hands-on with trapping, but every rescue relies on a network of supporters.
Foster kittens or adult cats
Donate toward food, supplies, or vet care
Share adoptable cats and rescue events on social media
Volunteer to transport cats to/from vet appointments
Offer emotional support and encouragement — rescuers need it
Your support helps rescuers like Heidi to keep going and save lives.
2. Learn The Ropes
Want to learn more about TNR? Neighborhood Cats is a great place to start:

3. Get TNR Certified
In NYC (and many cities), certification is required to access free or low-cost spay/neuter services, borrow traps, and connect with support networks.
🔗 Take a free certification workshop via Neighborhood Cats
You'll learn how to safely trap, transport, and care for outdoor cats. Certification unlocks access to trap rentals and vetted vet clinics.
4. Schedule Spay/Neuter – For Rescuers
Appointments are limited, especially in NYC. These two clinics are often the most accessible for beginners:
🔗 Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition Clinic
🔗 Flatbush Vet Clinic
